Honoring the Lineage of Teachers

I never thought I would say this phrase from the heart. Many years ago when I was trying to save the world (in a different (maybe somewhat) way than I am now) the social venture I founded co-hosted an event. It was a Buddhist practice "Tara Dance", (*editors note: I never know if the comma goes after quotations or not*) a choreographed dance with incredible transformative power. One portion of the vocal expression was "I honor the lineage of teachers." I cringed inside as I said it - then.

Tonight I had my world rocked by Scott Moore. Deep within my soul, I honor the lineage of teachers. Through subtle ways, I recognize how hugely impacted my life (and teaching) has been by his teaching... and his teachers.

One year at Summer Movement Monastery in PA, Dunya asked us to honor our first meditation teacher. Patricia, my late ex-mother in-law accidentally opened my world. She had breast cancer and in a brave and controversial stance decided against chemo and for herbs and yoga. She shared with me a book, which still sits on my bookshelf, tattered and worn, falling apart at the edges, and maybe the single most influential gift of my liberation - the Door.

a philosophy of one-ness - unity of heart, body and soul - nutrition of body and mind

the light cracked through; I couldn't go back, the fire, tapas, started in the kiln and I was forever altered and changed

Battling my quest for value I have had a crisis of faith. In the Presence of light and love through Scott's tutelage I realize how silly it is. Come home Sandi, this is where you belong. Show up from the heart and let the rest go.
