Her soft brown eyes opened to connect with me, seeing me witness her. A tear crept from my eyes with her piercing intimacy. Her dreams moved through her body. I watched them, holding space in my heart for their creation. Short gray hair framed her young yet experienced face full of vibrant life. When we looked at each other, without a single word we knew we were woven together. Shannon, facilitating our Remedy Wave practice, guided us to gracefully shift roles. As I closed my eyes to have my dreams witnessed tears blossomed up from my swelling heart, so touched by the Power of being seen and completely unlocked in my potential.

As I balance between worlds, drawing leaders to life through movement and breath I am constantly seeking language that bridges my sterile yet profitable MBA life with my rich inner RYT (registered yoga teacher) life. One of the words that has deftly eluded translation is witnessing. As I tangibly experienced tonight there isn't a bridge because witnessing is something greatly missing in most work places. As David Whyte quotes a person who hired him to speak in corporate America, "the language of business is not big enough for where we are going."
Most people who have worked with me have commented on two main qualities they appreciate: Trust and Being Truly Seen. I recognize the power of these gifts and know I work a hell of a lot harder for the rare managers who have practiced this valuing. If we could get witnessing in the curriculum holy shit would it change the world of work - unlocking potential and bring Life back to living.
