Crush Worthy Teachers

Since it is Spring I am expanding my horizons and seeking out new things in town. I have found fun new things and re-kindled my love for some long time companions.

My favorite long time teacher is Scott Moore - encouraging, compassionate and deep. I discovered him c. 2004 in Sandy, UT and have been following him on and off since (some people call that stalking I have heard). He has been one of my most formative teachers and often while teaching I hear things coming out of my mouth that are truly Scott's words. His restorative workshops are 'da bomb and his Feldenkrais and Yoga Workshop this weekend promises to give me another crush worthy teacher in Erin.

I have a crush from afar on David Whyte who is frequently 'astonished' and shares this reverence through insightful and heartfelt poetry. Plus he's got a rad accent which is always crush worthy.

Last night I met my most recent crush Diane Hamilton at a Jungian event. She is charismatic and deep with an endearing hint of irreverence. I love how she gave us an experience of perspectives as she described Ken Wilber's Integral work (he is another of my intellectual crushes). I also am inspired to make peace with my roots as a way to transcend and integrate my disavowed ethnocentric identity. Another fabulous thing about the evening was to feel into spaciousness with a group of peers.

Last but not least, Aaron Hunsaker whose encouragement in a challenging class feels a combo of a martial arts teacher and a mentor for inner city kids (I suspect he has experience in both). Even though he does a ton on the wrists and I have to adapt for carpal tunnel I keep showing up for that encouragement and core strength... and let's face it, tattoos are just damn sexy.

  1. I like this: "I also am inspired to make peace with my roots as a way to transcend and integrate my disavowed ethnocentric identity..." That inspired me as well...
